Dr. Nelson was born in Omaha, Nebraska and spent half of her childhood there before moving to Illinois. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and then attended the University of Illinois for veterinary school. While she enjoys all aspects of practice, she especially enjoys surgery and preventative medicine.

She has one dog and plans to add a kitten soon! Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include playing and watching sports, cheering on the Huskers, hanging out with friends and family, and spending time on the lake or in the ocean!
